Art spotlight: Jazzy Judy
Opening Saturday: As effervescent as she is talented,
Judy Onofrio has been a whirlwind force in the Rochester art
community for more than 30 years, founder of a popular arts day
camp, prime mover behind the growth and expansion of the
Rochester Art Center and extraordinarily productive sculptor.
Her relentlessly cheerful assemblage-sculptures are in museum
collections around the world. The Minneapolis Institute of Arts
and the Weisman Art Museum own Onofrio pieces. Her new show,
"Come One, Come All," stars a Judy alter ego in a tropical
circus-themed extravaganza, including this glittering bust
titled "Three of a Kind." (Party 8-11 p.m. Sat. $12.
Reservations: 1-507-282-8629. Rochester Art Center, 40 SE. Civic
Center Dr., Rochester, Minn. Show ends June 4. $3.
